New memo going home today

Dear third grade families,

A few updates and announcements!

  • The students have been working hard researching and writing biographies about people from the American Revolution. You are invited to our writing celebration on Friday, March 31st at 12:45pm. The students are welcome to dress up as the person they have been studying! I am collecting some costume items on my own--but if you have anything you want to send in with your student that would be welcome! Items we are on the hunt for: George Washington wigs, bloomers, petticoats, hats, fluffy blouses, dresses, etc.
  • Third grade MCAS dates are April 25, 26, 27 and May 18 and 19.
  • On Monday, May 22nd both 3rd grades will be going on a field trip to the new Hitchcock Center. (More info. To follow.)
  • Lastly, save the date for the annual third grade trip to Plymouth Plantation. We will be going on June 16th, 2017. More info on that to come!

Thanks as always for your support of our awesome third graders!

Sick, Sick Sick!

This week has been filled with Absences!!! Today there are 9 out of 21 students in our class out. Yester there were 7. If your child is at home and is looking for something to do I would encourage them to go on to Khan Academy - EngageNY Grade 3 Module 4 and start working through the lessons on area and perimeter. If they are interested in working on their biography that would be helpful as well.

Snack

Just a quick reminder to be thoughtful about the food and drink you are sending into school with you student each day. The snack should be low sugar as well as the drink. I have been noticing drinks that are high in sugar coming in. It makes it hard for the students to keep their focus and bodies at rest after ingesting sugar. Please try to help the class be more successful by reducing the amount of sugar in their morning snacks.

Thanks Mrs. Zadworny

Read Across America

Thank you Steve, from Amherst College for coming in to our class and reading If I Ran The Zoo.

After the story the class created their very own creatures and named them.
